What We Do
At Vintage Speed Trials, we are devoted to reviving the spirit of pre-war speed trialling. We aim to uphold Grimsthorpe’s rich legacy of motorsport, which began in 1903 with the first timed runs in the old deer park, hosted by the Lincolnshire Automobile Club.
Over a century later, our bi-annual Speed Trials event evokes the nostalgia of these early gatherings. Curated as a celebration of the charm of prewar cars and motorcycles, we transport our guests back in time to the
pioneering days of British motorsport.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since 1966, when designers at Letraset and James Mosley, the librarian at St Bride Printing Library in London, took a 1914 Cicero translation and scrambled it to make dummy text for Letraset’s Body Type sheets. It has survived not only many decades, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised thanks to these sheets and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker and Microsoft Word including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
How it Works
ON THE DAY, THE CARS AND MOTORCYCLES WILL BE TESTED THREE TIMES ON THE MAIN DRIVE OF THE ESTATE, FROM THE START LINE IN FRONT OF THE CASTLE TO THE FINISH LINE
The timetable for the day is as follows:
- 8:00am Gates open
- 10:00am Track Opens
- 12:30pm Track Closes for Lunch
- 1:30pm Track Re-Opens
